Anointing the Sick

He summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two…They anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them. (Mark 6:7, 13)

Anointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Sick is offered regularly at the church (generally after Mass) for parishioners who request it. This Sacrament is for those who are seriously ill or who are to undergo surgery or other serious medical procedures. There is a full-time Catholic chaplain serving Kaiser and Sequoia Hospitals who anoints all Catholic patients who request it. Families of those who are dying may call the parish priest to request a home visit to anoint those near death (the Last Rites).
